Our mission and values

Established in Canada since 1957, Bel Group created its Montreal-based subsidiary in 2005 to boost its operations in the country.

Bel Canada’s overall mission is to manage and develop the Group’s Canadian operations and those of its iconic cheese brands: The Laughing Cow®, Boursin®, Mini Babybel®, Port Salut® and Kiri®.

These exclusive, high-quality products, which are manufactured in Canada or imported primarily from Europe, have enjoyed tremendous success among Canadian consumers.

Bel Canada’s mission is also to favour a business model which draws on the expertise of the local dairy industry, thus benefitting the industry’s stakeholders. As a result, The Laughing Cow® has been manufactured in Quebec since 2007 in partnership with Fromagerie Bergeron, and Boursin® has been produced in Quebec with Agropur since 2011.

Bel Canada, which is headquartered in Montreal, is in full expansion mode. As of December 2018, it employs 50 people and will add another 140 positions in Sorel-Tracy, when construction of the first Mini Babybel® plant in Canada is completed in 2019-2020.

Proud of its legacy stemming from more than 150 years of history, Bel Canada contributes to Bel Group’s mission every day, which is to champion healthier and more responsible food choices for all.

Bel Group’s core values, shared around the world are Care, Commit and Dare, the cornerstone of a strong company culture.

We See Our Values At Work Every Day

Our values of dare, commit, and care work just as hard as we do. Every Bel employee is encouraged to challenge themselves and to share ideas of how they can make products and processes better, and their jobs easier. We all work hard, but we have fun doing it.
